We are absolutely thrilled to have secured funding from The National Lottery for our Mehndi Reimagined project. The project aims to connect people and communities in Bolton, during this difficult period of lockdown due to Covid 19. As part of our work, we have undertaken a variety of arts projects, designed to engage communities, improve well-being and tackle the problem of social isolation. A broader aim of what we do is to help develop opportunities for people to learn skills that can lead to new jobs and career opportunities. Two of our recent program modules are detailed below. Mehndi Art Christmas Theme
As part of our ongoing ‘Mehndi Reimagined’ project, CFAM presented ‘Christmas Baubles Decoration with Hema, in which Christmas decorations inspired by the magical art of Mehndi were created. Building on what had been demonstrated in previous sessions on a wide variety of patterns, including Mandana designs. Having previously learned how to apply circles, swirls and floral patterns, viewers were able to apply this knowledge to create Christmas decorations to baubles. Available from craft shops, these baubles could be used do create artistic and colourful seasonal decorations. The application of colourful ‘gems’ were the base for addition of a variety of beautiful Christmas-themed designs. Dance for Fitness and Wellbeing
Dancing is a great way to keep physically fit and it also beneficial for mental health and general well-being. ‘Dance and Well-Being With Varsha’ featured Gujarati music that quite simply defied you to keep still!
