Steph Sherratt

My name is Steph Sherratt and I have worked with Disabled children and young people in Bolton for 20 years.

Currently I manage the Charity Breaking Barriers NW based in the Market Place and along with our fabulous volunteers we offer support to over 1,500 families across the region.

I have 2 children and my eldest was diagnosed with Autism and Learning Difficulties when he was 3 years old which has given me a real insight into living with and raising a child (now adult) with significant additional needs. My youngest has just completed her first year at University and between them they are the very epitome of chalk and cheese – both amazing in their own ways.

I believe in the celebration of difference and that everyone has gifts and talents that others can learn from. I also believe in equality of opportunity and work hard to raise awareness and change society’s perception of achievement so that all successes receive the recognition they deserve and it’s only by working together for every family that we can begin to make change really happen.
